Theme National Day 2027
Ireland is marked on this page by the facts that stay useful all year: the capital is Dublin, the national observance is National Day on 17 March, and the national colours are green and gold. Ireland's public national day is 17 March, Saint Patrick's Day. The Irish Free State was established on 6 December 1922, which is why 2022 was counted from that year.
Capital and region (ZH)
Dublin is the capital. Ireland sits in the European time region, on the Europe/Dublin clock. National ceremonies for National Day are centred there.
The national day
The next National Day is Wednesday, 17 March 2027. Ireland's public national day is 17 March, Saint Patrick's Day. The Irish Free State was established on 6 December 1922, which is why 2022 was counted from that year. Locally it is called Lá Fhéile Pádraig. The year on this page follows that next date, so it changes after the observance passes.
Colours and how the day looks
The national colours are green and gold. Streets, schools and public buildings use them on National Day. The image on this page is an original ToolSphare poster painted in those colours.
